The Light Reveals All

***I put this back story together for a friend who was playing my Sunless Citadel Campaign.

Wyren - Half-Elf Cleric
(Twin Brother to RedRach)

As you go to bed after spending the evening downstairs listening to the Great Bard Timothy the Teller, you shed your armor and kneel by your bed to say your nightly prayers. As you go to end your prayer, your mind is filled with a vision of light. You see a sanctuary, small, humble but filled with darkness. As you look at the opening you feel like this place is somewhere in Oakhurst. The vision immediately releases you and you open your eyes. You are laying on your bed with your sword belted, and shield in hand. The rest of your things and armor are where you left them. As the vision nags your mind you decide to get up and go to that sanctuary. You quietly make your way out of the inn and down the road of Oakhurst. As you wind your way through Oakhurst searching for the sanctuary in your vision, you notice a building boarded up and covered in dirt and dust. It looks like some sort of homeless shelter. As you near you notice the point of a what looks to maybe to be the Sign of Corellon Half-Moon Crest. The door is boarded and so are the windows. You can't help but feel compelled to enter this building. Before you have time to think, you have kicked down the door with such force that it shatters the boarded wood and breaks the lock. A forceful wind of darkness slams into you. You make a Fortitude save to hold your ground. (this is not a physical wind, it is a wind of darkness.) You dig your heels into the ground and brace yourself behind your shield. You start to push your way in. every few feet you lose your footing and slide back a foot before you catch yourself. As you enter the sanctuary, you see nothing but darkness. You can't make out and pews, pillars, altars or anything, just darkness. The evil in this place stops trying to push you out, and starts trying to take over your body. Your mind feels as if its being crushed by a mountain of boulders. As you sink deep into yourself and begin to give up hope, one memory leaks through. A memory that you haven't thought of for many many years. Its of your mothers face. She is holding you, tears streaming down her eyes, kissing you on your head. As you focus on this image you feel the darkness reseeding. You see the crest of Corellon on the necklace of your mother and the crown on her head. You immediately offer a prayer of thanks to your God and ask for his goodness and light to purge the darkness and evil here. You offer a prayer and promise to cleanse this sanctuary and dedicate it to Crrellon, those in need, and the people of Oakhurst.

Corellon hears you. You see in your mind The Great Tree with the half-moon symbol on it. You hear Corellons voice as he says: "Wyren, you are a chosen follower and priest of light. I know you, i know your heart, and I seal upon you the goodness that is the light. I hear your prayer and covenant with you that if you purge this sanctuary, keep it clean, help those in need, and dedicate yourself to the light, I will protect you and this sanctuary. You have much to do in this world, and this will begin your that journey. Use this sanctuary as needed in your travels. I will provide you with someone to watch over it as you travel, but expect you to be the Presiding Cleric over it. Be true, follow the light, and you will be blessed."

As he finishes, the vision fades from your mind. The darkness immediately continues it's barge targeting your soul. You notice the insignia tattoo on your hand glowing with bright hot white light. You raise your hand high above your head and utter a prayer in fused with the spell of light. As you do, light bursts forth from the insignia burning all of the darkness around you. It purges ever last corner of the sanctuary burning any darkness in its path. The boards on the windows burn to dust, the cobwebs and dust burn out of existence, the smudges, dirt, and grime burn. The pews are transfigured from broken wood to polished oak, the altar the same and everything inside is cleansed. As the burning white light reseeds into your hand, you finally see the sanctuary for the first time. Light has filled the room, the sanctuary is cleansed and feels holy again. You notice that a candle-less chandelier hangs from the ceiling glowing with light. This is the light of Corellon. Your body and mind feel more free, refreshed and clear then they have ever been. Corellon has called you. You have heard him. You have been blessed by him and your path is open. You are to bring the light of Corellon to those in need.

As you step outside, you see the crest of Corellon on the front face of the building. It shines in the morning light. You must have been in there for many hours even though it felt timeless.

As you look away from the Crest and sanctuary, you see street empty accept for Kerowyn and a female Elf. They stand only feet away dressed in the holy dress of Corellon worship. Kerowyn introduces you to priestess Elandria. Kerowyn tells you that she was awoken in the middle of the night by the knocking on her door by Elandria. She told her of a vision she had of The Great Tree, of a Black Mug, and a dark Sanctuary. Elandria sought out the Black mug and found Kerowyn. Kerowyn then brought her here expecting to show her the boarded up sanctuary.

Seeing you and the newly purged sanctuary she bows her head and thanks you. Kerowyn then enters the sanctuary to offer her prayers. Elandria approaches you and kneels before you. She is a beautiful high-elf. The most beautiful elf you have ever seen. She says: "Wyren, I have been sent by Corellon to watch over this sanctuary. I am a follower and priestess of Corellon. I was on a journey to the south sent by the High Circle of the church. On my way passing this city, I had a vision while praying as i camped many miles away. When i woke from the vision I rushed here as quickly as I could. I was commanded by the light to watch over this sanctuary. I also saw your face in the vision, and I will gladly serve under your guidance. I know little of magic and defending the light, but I do know how to heal. I can heal the sick, afflicted and injured. I can also heal the soul." She stands, looks you into the eyes and says I dedicate myself until the light directs otherwise to protect this sanctuary with my life. I dedicate my skills in healing to heal any who enter and ask for help.

You place your palm on her forehead and whisper the prayer of the light. Bright white light fills your palm as you whisper the prayer. As you remove your palm and end the prayer, there on her forehead is left a white tattoo in the shape of the crescent moon. She bows, kisses you on both cheeks and enters the sanctuary. As you turn to follow her in, you catch a glimpse of your reflection in the stain glass windows of the church. It takes two looks and staring into the image to recognize yourself. You finally realize that the reason you didn't recognize yourself is the fact that your hair is now bright white. Your features have been changed to look more elf like also. You ears are slightly more pointy, and your jaw more angular. You are still a half elf, but your features have shifted ever so slightly. (Mark these changes on your char sheet)
